ARC Motorsports would not be what it is with out the talents and dedication of the people involved. From the driver and crew chief to the crew to the sponsors to the fans. Each person brings with them unique talents that we could not be successful without them.
DriverJames E. Calvert
James started racing go-karts at age 8. First running local dirt tracks, then moving into various regional series. In 1986 he won the Pro Series / Superstock championship. By this time James had started running select WKA national events and spent the next 4 years racing in the Northern series. When ARC Motorsports built their Modified he spent the next 2 years as a crew member. Late in the 1999 season the opportunity finally came and James was put in the car to test and within 4 laps at Motordrome Speedway, he turned laps 2/10ths of second faster then the existing driver and won his current seat in the ARC Motorsports Modified. For the remainder of the 1999 season and 2000, James continued to improve and push the team to keep up. The 2000 season had James in the top 10 in points until late season engine failures ended the season early. The 2001 season was another story. James came out of the box hot with a heat win on night one, and he never looked backed. The season ended with 2 heat wins, 17 of 17 top 10 finishes, 8 top 5 finishes, and 5th place in points.
Crew ChiefMark A. Calvert
Mark started racing motorcycles in 1975. After several years racing motorcross and endurance events he stepped away from competition until 1982, when he and his father started ARC Motorsports. From 1982 until 1995, with his two sons, they raced go-karts at various levels. In 1996 with the help of his two sons, he built their first modified car to race on dirt with Mark taking the wheel. In 1998 he sold the dirt car and bought the existing asphalt car they race today. Mark drove the car until mid season of 1999 when James was put in the car to test. Going back the go-kart days with James driving and Mark setting up the car the team almost immediately began it rise. Mark currently oversees all operation of ARC Motorsports from building their engines to setting up the chassis.
