Our MissionARC Motorsports moves ahead each year with a very simple but dedicated philosophy. Be better then we were last year, expand, learn, and above all provide something back to all we associate with.
Company ProfileARC Motorsports, Inc, was formed in 1982 by Mark Calvert and was named after his father, Alvin Raymond Calvert, the first member of the Calvert family to race. It was initially formed to be a retailer of parts and accessories for racing go-karts as well as overseeing the family racing operation. We quickly learned that we were not prepared to enter the retail market, and the company focused on our racing operations only. As the years passed we eventually moved from go-karts to racing circle track cars. We found ourselves not only building all our own equipment, but found ourselves building for others as well. In 2002 we decided to once again expand our focus and become a full service engine machine shop and started purchasing the various machines to recondition / modify any engine component. Without question our love of racing and competition has driven most of what we do, but brings the added bonus of our dedication to precision to even non-performance applications.
CapabilitiesOur current capabilities focus primarily on automobile engine applications, but our machine centers were purchased to provide the ability to handle larger diesel / industrial engine applications. With a simple change in tooling we can machine anything that can fit through our door. Please see our Machining Centers for details.
Racing HistoryFor several years we ran locally on dirt and asphalt go-kart tracks with
James and Brad Calvert behind the wheel. After several years, we started running
regional races then moved to the national circuit. Each step the competition became
more focused, as did we. After returning from the national circuit and running only
local races we found ourselves dominating the competition and moved out of go karts and
built a AMRA modified with Mark driving. Our ultimate goal was to race asphalt and
after two years racing dirt, we sold the dirt car and bought our current asphalt
car. The first year and a half was spent learning, watching and working on the car.
In 1999 James was put in the car and Mark stepped in as crew chief, ARC Motorsports began
establishing itself as one of the teams to beat. With 2000 being spent on
development and our focus on the 2001 season, we experimented with different combinations
to suit James' driving style and managed to run consistently around the top 10. The
2001 season opened with a lot of promise, and ARC Motorsports showed its consistency with
17 top 10 finishes, 8 top 5 finishes, several heat race wins, and 5th in the points at
Motordrome Speedway in Smithton, Ohio. The 2002 season is one that will be
remember with less then fondness. The season saw us start with an extremely fast
car, but a first night engine failure took us out for 6 weeks waiting for parts to build a
new engine. Our return to Motordrome saw us again come back very competitive but
wrecks in the following weeks took us out of contention for the track title and any hopes
of a decent points finish.
